MEDICA 7/15
MEDICA-R 7/15 ~ The low-usage option for tap water feed
A compact, dedicated unit providing CLRW grade water, the MEDICA-R is an ideal choice for use with a single chemistry or immunoassay clinical analyzer. Supplies a constant flow of high purity water which is maintained by recirculation through ion exchange resins, UV, and an integral 0.2µm microfilter. It is an ideal choice for use with a single chemistry or immunoassay clinical analyzer. Two models are available providing either 7 or 15 liters/hr, and facilitating an instantaneous demand of up to 1.8 liters/min from tap water feed.
MEDICA-D 7/15 ~ Low-usage option to meet dissolved oxygen specification
The MEDICA-D shares the same features as the MEDICA-R, providing CLRW grade water for single clinical analyzers. In addition, the MEDICA-D incorporates a deaeration membrane, providing a reliable dissolved oxygen specification that is required by some clinical analyzers. This product is also available in two models providing either 7 or 15 liters/hr.

"Overall, ELGA’s service and technical support are an excellent match for our own operations in South Asia. It’s a very good partnership, with a helpful and dedicated team, and it is good to know that they are always on hand if a customer has a problem. We have complete peace of mind in the MEDICA systems and the ELGA team; our in-house engineers know they can depend on the systems to perform reliably, and the customer receives a more efficient, comprehensive service."

Consumables

Increase in airborne contaminants and potential recontamination of purified water

Increase in airborne contaminants and potential recontamination of purified water

Weakly bound ions are released back into the water reducing resistivity

Reduced flow-rates and bacterial specification will not be maintained

Uncontrolled bacterial contamination and TOC levels are not reduced

High levels of organics and inorganics remain in the water reducing the functional life of the DI pack
Chlorine, chloarmine and organics remain, increasing the burden on downstream consumables which will need more frequent and expensive changes

FAQs
- What is the MEDICA product range?
The MEDICA product range is specifically targeted at the Clinical diagnostics market. The MEDICA will either directly feed (analysers which require a direct feed) or fill via a dispense gun the analyser with water that meets the recommendations of the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).
- How often do I need to change my consumables?
Consumables life depends entirely on the quality and volume of water being fed into the MEDICA product. Higher volumes and lower quality water will increase consumables usage.
- What feedwater is required?
Normally potable water is sufficient as feedwater. However, the quality of potable water can vary between countries and regions. Feed water specifications can be found in the operators manual and the data sheet of the product. It is important that if the feedwater specification is exceeded suitable pre-treatment be installed to bring the feedwater within specifications.
- What is the difference between a MEDICA R and MEDICA D?
The MEDICA R 7/15 is ELGA's standard product for analysers requiring feedwater volumes of 7-15L/hr. The R stands for recirculating, meaning that the water circulates throughout the purification technologies before it is fed to the analyser ensuring that the quality of water is at the levels required. The MEDICA D has the same recirculating design, however, some analysers have an oxygen specification which is needed to enable them to accurately run their tests. This product removes a % of oxygen from the water to meet these testing requirements.
