FAQs
- What type of water does the PURELAB Chorus 1 deionized water purification system deliver?
The PURELAB Chorus 1 range dispenses Type I (ultrapure, 18.2 MΩ·cm) water suitable for highly sensitive applications across analytical research, life sciences, and general laboratory use. Our PureSure technology ensures water purity at all times while minimizing running costs.
- What type of applications are suitable for the ultrapure water dispensed from a PURELAB Chorus 1 deionized water purification system?
The PURELAB Chorus 1 range delivers 18.2 MΩ·cm ultrapure water for the most sensitive laboratory applications, including high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), and gas chromatography (GC), as well as molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, atomic spectroscopy, immunochemistry, and ultra-trace analyses, where consistent, high-quality water is critical.
The PURELAB Chorus range of laboratory deionized water systems supports your full workflow:
• Chorus 1 Complete offers a complete tap-to-ultrapure solution
• Chorus 2 supports general lab use, such as buffer preparation
• Chorus 3 provides Type III water for basic applications, such as glassware cleaning and autoclave feedsContact us to discuss the best solution for your workflow.
- What are the benefits of the PURELAB Chorus 1 range?
PURELAB Chorus 1 deionized water purification systems offer:
• Continuous insight into organic purity through TOC monitoring (calculated every 2–3 seconds)
• Point-of-use water quality monitoring for reliable results
• A wide variety of purification packs to optimize performance and consumable life, whatever your setup
• Configurable dispensing options to suit different workflows and budgets
• A mercury-free option with Chorus 1 Xe, eliminating hazardous chemical waste and reducing service frequency with a 5-year lamp lifespan- How does deionization purify water, and what is the difference between deionized and distilled water?
Deionized water purification systems, like the PURELAB Chorus 1, use ion-exchange (IX) resins to produce 18.2 MΩ·cm water. IX resins remove dissolved ions, replacing them with hydrogen (H⁺) and hydroxide (OH⁻), which combine to form pure water. This process is the most effective way to eliminate trace ionic contaminants.
Within ELGA laboratory deionized water systems, IX operates as part of a continuous loop to maintain exceptional water quality. Upstream reverse osmosis (RO) removes most ions and large organic molecules, while UV photo-oxidation of the remaining impurities enables effective removal by IX.
Distilled water, by contrast, is purified through boiling and condensation. Deionized water is typically faster to produce and is widely used for high-purity lab applications.
- What storage reservoirs are available with the PURELAB Chorus 1 range?
The PURELAB® Chorus 1 range offers four reservoir sizes: 15 L, 30 L, 60 L, and 100 L. Contact us to discuss the best solution for your workflow.
