Immunochemistry

Immunochemistry is a branch of chemistry which focuses on the study of the immune system as well as immune responses. Ultrapure water is essential, here's why.
Immunochemistry

Immunochemistry is a branch of chemistry that studies specific functionality and mechanisms of the immune system on the molecular level, looking specifically at the interactions between antibodies and antigens. There have been many developments in immunochemistry and many applications from molecular evolution, pathology and virology.

Immunocytochemistry

Immunocytochemistry (ICC) delves into the process of visualizing specific proteins or antigens and the interaction of binding antibodies in whole and intact cells. These studies allow researchers to evaluate whether cells are expressing specific antigens.

Immunohistochemistry

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) refers to the process of localizing antigens in tissue cells, exploiting the principle of antibodies binding specifically to antigens in biological tissues. It is a particularly important process in the diagnosis of malignant cells such as cancerous tumours. Water is required across the histologies labs, from water and floatation baths, as well as being in most of the automated instruments present.

Impact of water

As water is required across the field of immunochemistry, it is important that you have the right water type for your requirements. Hard deposits or bacterial biofilms can build up if poor water quality is used. When water comes into direct contact with the samples, it is important that there are no impurities or contaminants which could interfere with the antibodies and assays.
